Trying to Keep Family Together
Hi, my name is Caitrin, and right now my family really needs help. When I got out of a twelve year abusive relationship about a year ago, I wasn't expecting to lose my home as well. I had closed my massage clinic when our daughter was born in 2013, leaving me suddenly unemployed, with no income of any kind, and more than a little lost. I was lucky we have a homeless shelter here, but I didn't want to put the kids through that stress, if they'd allowed me to have them there with shared custody. I spent my time there working with mental health and disability services for the region since I qualified for rent assistance and general support since I'm bipolar. I finally got everything they needed done before they could help me, and I quickly found myself in the most economical apartment I could get. I was putting out at least 20 applications and resumes each week, and didn't get a single callback. I finally just got hired full time this Friday, which means if we can just make it through this crises, my income will cover our bills thereafter. My landlord came by today to tell me if he isn't paid all the back rent I owe, on top of the $775 rent on the first, he's going to evict us that day. My family has done everything they can afford to do to help us make it this far. I also am past due on our power bill, because no job, the total due is $235.60, but if i can find a way to pay $66 by the 25th, they won't disconnect our power again. There's little expenses, like replacing my broken bike chain so i have transportation, and a bus pass for errands I'll be bringing things back from, or to pick the kids up if its raining. This help will literally put my kids and I in a more stable, healthier, and sustainable independently and make more of a difference than you would believe. Thank you for reading.
