Trying to stay afloat
My husband of 14 years had a heart attack, towards the end of last month, and was put into a medical-induced coma. I thought as long as he woke up, everything would be fine. My husband did, although disoriented and weak he started breathing without the machine's help a couple days later. A day later, out of the ICU and on the third floor, his heart doctor decided that his vitals were good enough for the pacemaker. His doctor was very honest, saying that even with this surgery, he might only live for a year even though the pacemaker has an estimation of one to five years.
All the pressure of not being able to hold everything together at home is getting to me. Not just financially but mentally, emotionally, and physically. I’m really trying but I’m hitting many walls a long the way. We went to local organizations and the government, but we were told that our income was over by $50 to qualify for assistance. I even tried the plasma center; the first donation was $100. I was happy. The water won’t get cutoff. The second donation would have been another $100, but I was deferred for 2 weeks because I haven't been eating right due to depression and stress ( protein levels were low).
