In November 2022, Corporal Adam Tytler, who is a School Resource Deputy with the Lake County Sheriff's Office (FL), saw a cardiologist for ongoing chest pain. The pain he was experiencing was nightly and continued for months. The cardiologist did an EKG and said his heart was fine and that the issue was more likely gastrointestinal. 

Corporal Tytler discovered his first swollen lymph node on Christmas Eve. He brushed it off during the holiday season as just inflammation. He went to have it looked at in February 2023 by his primary care doctor because the lymph node on the left side of his neck wasn't healing. He had a sinus infection also. When he mentioned the swollen lymph node to his doctor, and was told likely due to the sinus infection.

Throughout the Spring, his chest and back pain persisted. Adam thought this may have been from wearing his duty gear. He saw his doctor again. The lymph node hadn't reduced and now he was starting to feel swollen lymph nodes on his chest. His doctor ordered an array of CT scans and after reviewing the results, said it was likely cancer. Adam decided to seek a second opinion at the Moffitt Cancer Center. A biopsy confirmed stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma June 2023. 

Prior to this diagnosis, Adam was an extremely healthy 42 year old man having proudly served the Lake County Sheriff's Office for 20 years. He has received many awards, most notably Lake County Officer of the Year, in 2019 after he prevented a school shooting at Eustis High School during the 2018-2019 school year. Adam has been a member of FASRO since he became an SRD several years ago. He is still continuing to work as much as he can with the compassion and support of his amazing coworkers and supervisors.

Adam and his family are splitting their time between Tampa and Mount Dora currently and will be doing so throughout the duration of his treatment. Commuting and lodging between the two are starting to make their financial situation difficult. With medical bills expected to be six figures, any help you are able to provide is greatly appreciated. 

Good news! After his fourth treatment, a PET scan revealed that a vast majority of the cancer responded to the chemo. With God's grace, Adam will recover completely and live a long healthy life with his wife and his daughters. Thank you for uplifting the Tytler family during this challenging time.
