Valley Camp
Most PNWDigital members now know of the impact that C-19 is having on both our annual gathering at Valley Camp and on Valley Camp's general operation, which is essentially closed. I don't mean to ignore the larger issues surrounding C-19 or seem to be cavalier, but this is just a little slice of the a very terrible event on this planet that we all must deal with as we can.
This campaign is now our effort to compensate for the loss of our raffle which raised money for Valley Camp during our annual DMR Spring Gathering. Thom and Teena are both hams, camp hosts, friends and they run the Valley Camp operation.
We have raised $516 in a day over at GFM, you all are super! But we have moved to this platform for a number of good reasons too. Just today GFM suspended the campaign likely due to my questioning the fees taken in excess of their published schedule. See one of my $5 comments here for more on that. But let's make use of comments for the good shared in our times with Thom and Teena over the past 20 odd years of Valley Camp events!
I think this a good time to share your past experiences at Valley Camp or with Thom and Teena elsewhere, SeaPac for example. A word or two about why you have made a donation shared with others would be really nice during our very trying times of late and as it looks as if it will become much worse before better. Please include your Call Sign in comments even if you don't have any personal comments. I put my Call in the Last Name field. We know call signs but not so much the names. :-)
So if anything sparks you, please donate to Valley Camp. PNWDigital suggests $25 a year for supporting our group. So if you give $25 or more here, we shall consider you a contributor to PNWDigital as well and add your to the suporter's page. Consider it a double your money action as you pay it forward. PNWDigital will help too, all donations given to PNWDigital from now to May 16th will be donated to Valley Camp also. Give to either, it goes to Valley Camp
I selected the campaign goal as it is just 10% more than you all donated last year at our First Annual DMR Spring Gathering, most of us being present for the training, socializing and the food! Let's beat that goal! The goal is a reasonable target. It is not an end point and the plan is to leave this campaign open indefinitely.
All funds given through this fundraiser go to Valley Camp directly. We do not have any access to the money. There is a ~3% fee that is taken from every donation for the charge card services. The tip is optional and likely is worth a dollar as Freefunder is a Seattle based empirette that really appears to have better backend services over that of GFM. FF doesn't handle the funds either as the money flows directly to the payment processor and within 2 days, shows up in Valley Camps account.
We will modify this page and information or post comments/update soon as well as address the donated prizes at a later time. Expect a few days for us to get a handle on how we will be going forward. Fundraising is new for Valley Camp and I'm not an expert. Considering the messy initial 26 hours, I am certainly looking forward to the success of our efforts.
Thank you ahead from the PNWDigital.Net Admin Team... Mike, NO7RF, [email protected]
