Vecinos Helping Puerto Rico
Vecinos is more than a fundraiser – it's a project to connect the Denver community directly to our neighbors in Puerto Rico. The goal of the project is to empower Denverites who want to support the victims of Hurricane Maria, and to ensure that contributions are effective and actually reach Puerto Ricans directly.
So many supplies and funds are getting hamstrung by the bureaucracy of big organizations and not reaching the people in need. But this is an organic grass roots project that will help connect the Denver community with the Puerto Rican communities.
We're working on this project to help collect truly helpful donations for those struggling in Puerto Rico, and to ensure that they actually make it to those in need, visiting house by house and door by door.
How are we using your kind contribution?
Organizer Josue Sanchez will fly to Puerto Rico the week of October 9th to personally courier donations into Puerto Rico. His family has organized a team to meet him at the airport and distribute the supplies directly to those most in need in their community. Your monetary contributions will help to cover transportation expenses, purchase additional water filters and food.
Updates on the progress of our mission to help will be available on the Vecinos Facebook page.
