I moved back to my childhood home to tend to my then ailing Mother. She passed away in April 2020 and then the house is deeded to me in 2025. The home was built in 1930 and with my birth in 1966 the family moved in. I never been a home owner and at then 59 I thought I was good but the wear and tear like vinyl siding is coming off in multiple areas. The roof is 20 plus years old and I attempted to get it repair but the guy that was referred and was apparently not not qualified. He gave me a quote of $3300 I paid but he underestimated and requested that I pay another $3000 to complete. I then find out he does roofing as a side job but after about 2 weeks ...he left and I didn't request for him to return. I had to take a HELOC $48000oan on the house to buy out my half sibling. I prior to inheriting the house had less than $10000 debt but now .....WOW! I need to get the roof done quickly insurance is being denied until complete.
