Waiter John Needs Our Help

There are so many people who will never be the same because their paths crossed with Waiter John. I'm fortunate that it happened to me. The man knows he received a gift 47 years ago, and he calls each of us in the AA family his HEART. If you get to see him often (it's easy, he is at the 6:30AM ODAAT meeting in Plano as long as his body can get him there, daily), not sure about you, but I am full of things this man has shared in meetings. I have things burned in my mind I needed to hear. He can be harsh - "we are egomaniacs with an inferiority complex, and every day must be an exercise in ego deflation at depth". He can be soft- "God is holding me in the palm of his precious hand". But one strength John has that is undeniable: he is consistent.

A Fire Destroyed His Home

On Tues, Jan 23, Waiter John's home and belongings were destroyed in a fire. John, Debbie and puppy are safe from the fire. I don't have all the details but know they need our help now. When we come to AA we rely on G.O.D. (a group of drunks) to help us. Now is the time for that same group to come together and help. This page serves as the official page to raise funds for John to replace his belongings and to help with expenses now.
