When it rains, it pours
Hi,
I live in the Bay Area and work full-time — and in the span of a few weeks, almost everything in my life has changed at once.
My roommate of over 4 years is moving back to India - because he is losing his job, along with that our lease is ending and I have to move out by November 11.
I'm searching for a new apartment on my own, and, I'll be living completely alone — with the full rent and bills on one income. Bay area is unaffordable and I am looking for jobs elsewhere - but I need something to keep going.
I am an immigrant worker so I dont have family here, or may friends.
At the same time, my car got a flat tire, a broken rim and needs servicing right in the middle of the highway and the lease on that car has ended — so I also need to buy a car just to keep getting to work (my commute is about 15 miles each way). I am currently carless with a 5-days a week work schedule in office
On top of all of this, my visa process is still underway, which adds a layer of stress and uncertainty I can't control.
None of these things alone would break me. All of them landing in the same few weeks is what's hard: a security deposit and first month's rent, moving costs, car repairs and a down payment, and the jump from splitting every bill to carrying them all solo.
Last month I also faced a medical emergency that had me urndergo CT scan, and testing and put me on a month's medication for a gastrointestinal medical issue.
I'm starting this fundraiser to bridge that gap. Every contribution — and every share — genuinely helps me get through this transition and back on stable ground.
Breakdown of my ask:
Deposit + first month's rent: $4,500
Moving costs: $750
Car servicing + down payment help: $2,000
Solo-living buffer: $500
Thank you for reading, and for being in my corner.
