Whispers of Love NGO

Dear friends, family, and strangers with big hearts. I am writing to you in hopes of helping some precious people in an underprivileged part of the world be filled with hope and be equipped for futures brighter than their pasts. I was blessed this winter by an opportunity to volunteer at a NGO in Uganda, a community library for village kids, whose families cannot afford school tuition fees. My friends there opened up their home and converted their garage into a classroom, welcoming all the students they could fit (now 30+). Already on a roll, Whispers of Love, has hosted volunteer teachers and received financial support in order to make uniforms, get school supplies, and food for a modest snack and lunch for the students. Volunteers are cared for well, and are not begged for support by any means, but after meeting these angels, hearing the stories of their pasts, and what this safe place to learn and be cared for has done for each of their lives, I cannot imagine not trying to help.

The current stress on the heroic women, supporting all of these children, is meeting rent for the new building they have just moved the library into. This new location is a great improvement and honest miracle, with promise and space to be able to expand the amount of students, and to one day own the property and be a school, officially.

Right now however, meeting monthly rent is not going easily, and that is the first need to be met. All funds here will go to paying rent for the classrooms, food for the students, school supplies, and one day, I hope for it to be for purchasing land and digging a well to have clean, accessible water for the community.

I look forward to returning to Uganda and capturing more up close looks at the great and hopeful things being done here, all in order to give these kids a fighting chance to escape poverty, reach their academic potential (some VERY smart cookies in the pack) and to let the world see their big shining hearts and smiles. Also I would like to note that the official tuition-charging schools in Uganda are typically not always the most friendly environments, and can be quite militant. While the students at Whispers of Love thrive with the freedom to be themselves and to be expressive, while still being respectful and honoring their teachers. This is why my friends hope to be a credible school and to support these students all the way through.

I have successfully transferred money to my friends with the World Remit App, and I chose FreeFunder because they do not take any of your donations for themselves, it all goes to Whispers of Love.

There are a couple of organizations in Uganda with this name, so I will link to their socials here…
