Help us grow the first women's ice hockey team at Georgia Tech!
Women’s Club Ice Hockey Team @ Georgia Tech is a newly established student-led initiative dedicated to bringing women’s ice hockey to Georgia Tech. While Georgia Tech has strong representation in many team sports, there is not a structured or accessible women’s hockey program. We aim to fill this gap by providing an opportunity for students to learn, play, and grow together through the sport.
By establishing a women’s hockey team at Georgia Tech, we are not only creating opportunities for students here, but also helping grow the sport in a region where it is still developing. This team will serve as a visible and inspiring example for other southern schools to consider forming women’s teams, strengthening representation and access for female athletes in a sport where opportunities can be limited.
Currently, 30+ students are interested in joining, but only 7 members have committed. Cost is cited as the #1 barrier to committing as a member. Through fundraising, we aim to increase the accessibility to participating in our club as it is crucial to our mission.
Women’s Club Ice Hockey Team @ Georgia Tech is currently in its launch phase-- we are meeting once a week for practices and scrimmaging with local schools. Before registering with an official league, we need to build a core roster of over 10 members. To support a team of this size, we require funding in several areas:
#1: Ice Time
Ice time is the foundation of our program. Our team currently holds a weekly practice at The Ice, with a rental cost of $400 per hour. To ensure consistent training and team development, we plan to hold a weekly practice for 12 weeks each semester. Regular access to ice time is critical to providing opportunities for players of all levels to develop their skills.
#2: Gear
Our team is growing, but many students are hesitant to join due to the high cost of gear. We currently have 7 registered players, 5 of whom own full gear. In addition, 3 more students want to join but cannot commit without equipment. By covering these 5 players, we can start the season with 10 fully equipped members, a strong foundation for a sustainable team. Basic protective gear is expected to cost $1000 per player. All gear purchased with club funds will be added to our equipment and be used as loaner gear for generations to come. This support will remove the financial barrier, expand participation, and set the stage for Women’s Club Ice Hockey Team @ Georgia Tech to thrive.
#3: Jerseys
To ensure that players have proper game attire, we plan to provide team jerseys and hockey socks for 10 players. Each full set (jersey + socks) costs approximately $108, for a total of $1080. By providing uniforms, we will be able to both foster a team identity and relieve the financial burden on individual players, helping us to maintain an accessible and inclusive program.
All support from this fundraiser will go directly to one of these areas of need. We appreciate any way you can help and are open to both group and individual donations. Please contact for sponsorship inquiries.
