World Scholar's Cup - Athens
Please help us in this opportunity to send six Texas scholars to an international educational competition in Athens, Greece in July!
The above team of three young men (left to right that's Brady, Colby and William) from Ridge Point HS in Fort Bend ISD recently captured first place in the Houston region of the World Scholar's Cup, a global academic challenge with 2016-17 participation by more than 21,000 students in 50 nations.
Their team score of 31,330 points was the ninth-highest in the world thus far of more than 7,000 teams who have competed in the challenging six-subject, four-event (writing, debate, multiple-choice individual tests, team clicker finale) competition and they have qualified to compete in the global meet in Athens, Greece from July 18-23, 2017 where they hope to represent the United States.
Near the bottom of this page, you can see the junior team champions at the Houston meet (fifth graders Sahil, Laurie & Holden). Both team's trips would have to be entirely self-funded and these six young students have engineered this crowd-sourcing fundraiser (with special Greek-themed gifts for donations above certain designations) to help make this dream a reality!
Donations of greater than $100 will result in one of the following two Greek gifts to be personally mailed to you after the team's return from Athens! (these blue matia ward off the evil eye while the colorful komboloi beads serve as stress relievers).
