Yazan's family in Gaza
Hello! We have an opportunity to make a tangible difference in a Gazan family's lives by raising $12,000 primarily for house repairs due to damage in the 2014 war.
These funds will go towards materials and labor for fixing their home, paying utility bills and education debt, and necessary household supplies for this family.
Who is this family? They are made up of my friend Yazan, his elderly mother, his adult brothers, their wives, and his nieces and nephews. In total, ten of them live in the first floor of the house. Yazan's father died due to medical neglect because when he got sick, Israel refused to let him leave Gaza to go to a hospital.
The impact of these struggles has been ongoing and traumatic. Gaza has been blockaded for 14 years. It's nearly impossible to leave to find work, there's mass unemployment locally, severe resource scarcity, and 90% of Gazans don't have access to clean water.
The house needs complete maintenance. The second floor lacks windows, electricity, and water. Yazan will work on the repair himself, with help from other family members, but needs money for the raw materials, which are very expensive due to the cruel blockade on Gaza. They need to buy windows, piping, tiles, paint, and other such things. The estimation of these costs is $7,000-10,000.
After four years of studying for a physical education degree, Yazan cannot receive his degree until he pay a debt to his school. His young nephews and cousins need clothes that fit for when school starts soon. And they need ongoing support for food costs, which is about $500/month.
Please lend your support to help my friend achieve his dream of providing for his family and creating a safe living situation.
