ZM Race to a Full Breath

Hi everyone,

My name is Kade Moore and I was born, raised and am an active member of our Andrews community, along with my younger brother, Zane Moore. If y'all don't know us personally, you may have seen us serving at First Baptist Church, coaching my son Dominic's baseball team, or you may have even cheered on Zane at his high school baseball games (Andrews High School class of 2019) or one of the few hundred motocross races he's raced in his 22 years.

For those who may not have seen our Facebook posts or know us personally, my brother has been dealing with quite the complicated medical issue. In the last month Zane has had numerous scans, tests and procedures to determine why he has been unable to take a full breath for close to 2 years. What we have learned is that Zane is basically a walking miracle.

In late March a large mass was discovered in Zane's right lung. The mass had completely replaced his right lung and caused a deviation to his trachea and displacement of the mediastinum. Several specialists came onto his case to determine what the mass was and the correct path forward for Zane. Thankfully, the biopsies came back without indicators for cancer but his team still wanted more information before removing the mass.

On April 9, 2023, Zane was admitted to Covenant Medical Center after a bronchoscopy.

On April 11th, he underwent a right thoracotomy and prepared to wake up without his right lung. At this point his right lung was not functional at all but his medical team hoped to perform a miracle and save Zanes lung. During surgery they removed a significant amount of sponge-like material and were able to get his lung functioning again.

Zane's medical team said they had never seen anything like it before and he was a true medical mystery. Their best educated guess is that the mass was a result of trauma with a continuous slow leak. They also said he is one tough dude, but most of us already know that about Zane!

He has been in the hospital since his surgery and is slowly but surely recovering. He has a long rough road ahead of him and is expected to have quite a lot of follow-up visits to his medical team in Lubbock once he is released from the hospital.

Our family is aware that times are tough right now and not everyone will be able to donate and help out. But if the Lord has blessed you with the ability to donate and you feel that you can, we would truly appreciate it.

All of the donations Zane received will go directly to his medical expenses, which we anticipate to be quite overwhelming. Any remaining donations will then be used towards travel and lodging for his follow-up care.

Thank you all in advance for your donations, prayers sent his way, and/or for sharing his story.

God bless you!
